22...23...24 Weeks Already!

DATE: September 14, 2014

HOW FAR ALONG?  24 weeks today!  I can’t believe how quickly time flies, especially since school has started back up.  We just might blink and find ourselves at 40 weeks at this rate!

GENDER: These days I have started to think girl, but I spent most of this pregnancy thinking boy, so who knows!  We will be surprised either way at this point.

BABY IS THE SIZE OF A: Depending on which app I read, a pomegranate, papaya, mango, or this week most apps say an ear of corn.  Baby weighs at least a pound and a half this week!

TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN: My extreme weight gain at my last appointment has subsided as I have only gained 1-2 pounds since my last doctor visit which was 3 weeks ago.  That puts me up to 17 pounds at this point.

MATERNITY CLOTHES? Can’t fit into much else these days unless I want to see my belly popping out the bottom of my shirts!  My belly button pants extenders have been lifesavers at keeping me from having to purchase expensive maternity pants though.  Phew!

STRETCH MARKS? Not yet, lotion daily!

MOVEMENT: Excitedly, yes!  The kicks are strong enough that Chad can feel them now too which was very exciting for the both of us.  Of course every time I feel strong ones and yell for him to come feel the baby chooses that time to take a break, but he still gets to feel them fairly regularly.  I find myself poking and moving my belly when I haven’t felt baby in awhile because it is such a reassuring and wonderful feeling to feel the baby moving inside of me.  Seriously such a great moment every time!

SLEEP: Work’s early wake up call hasn’t exactly helped my feelings of being well rested, nor has my body deciding to wake up every 2-4 hours throughout the night, but overall I sleep comfortably with and without my pregnancy pillow, so I really should’t complain!

SYMPTOMS: Luckily I haven’t had many of the bad ones everyone talks about (heartburn, back pain, leg cramps), but I still burp often and at times find that I can’t fit much food in my stomach.  Overall though nothing too uncomfortable or cumbersome.  Fingers crossed these aren’t famous last words!

FOOD CRAVINGS: Get this girl some Chinese food! I don’t know why, but I find that I get fixated on a particular food and think about it often until I get to eat it.  Chinese food is on the brain!  I also want chocolate chip cookies and chocolate sweets all the time…old wives’ tales would say that means Baby Hansen is a girl!

ANYTHING MAKING YOU SICK? No, but the mornings aren’t my favorite.  I never feel great when I am up early getting ready for work.  A little throwback to how I felt at the start of the day in my first trimester.

WEDDING RING ON OR OFF? On!

BELLY BUTTON IN OR OUT?  Mostly in…..mostly. Starting to bulge a bit…

WHAT I MISS:  Sleeping on my back and belly is a big one right now.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO:  Next month and three awesome showers our family and friends are throwing for us and Baby Hansen!  Can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!

MILESTONES?  We are 5 weeks into our Bradley Method birthing class and we are learning so much!  I am so, so, so glad we signed up for this class and with our instructor, who we are in the process of hiring to be our doula as well!  Yes, we bit the bullet and decided that hiring a doula was a smart idea and we are so comfortable with our teacher and know that she will be very aware of our plan and relaxation strategies, so she was the obvious choice and we know she would be an awesome doula for us.  Chad has been dutifully helping me with all of our relaxation and contraction practice this week.  FYI holding an ice pack to your bare inner wrist or back of your neck for one minute seriously hurts.  Contraction practice here we come!

BEST MOMENT THIS WEEK:  Enjoying a relaxing weekend with my hubby and puppy.  We have been working on getting one thing done for the baby each weekend and this weekend we finished organizing and putting things together in the babies room.  Mom, we love the bassinet! I will be perfect!  "We" also had quite a lot of fun registering last weekend.  It was fun choosing the things that our baby will someday use!

*As you can see, Chad had a lovely time at Babies 'R Us!  At least he found a comfortable glider chair for the nursery!

*I think this outfit might be a bit too big for a baby...that was the largest baby one piece I think I have ever seen!

*Enjoying a sunset boat outing to close the long Labor Day weekend.  Bear loved his boat trip too!

*Day-tripping!  We went to Snoqualmie for the afternoon to have lunch and see the falls.  It was a fun getaway despite the less than favorable weather.  Bear enjoyed the outing as much as we did!  He is such a good travel companion (so are you, Chad!).

*23 weeks and growing big!  Look at that baby bump!  I'm not sure the term "bump" really applies anymore to this growing baby house!

*The new bassinet all set up and the finished IKEA shelving unit that Chad completed this weekend!  Love how everything is coming together in the nursery!
