HOW FAR ALONG? 17 weeks and 6 days
GENDER: If I was to have the baby without changing my mind from this moment, I would say that it would be a shock to have the doctor say, “It’s a girl!” I really think that it is a boy at this point. Everyone who has an opinion says boy, so if it is a girl there will be a lot of shocked friends and family out there. So far all the online tests using fun old wives’ tale style predictors says boy too.
BABY IS THE SIZE OF A: Apparently a turnip, but since I don’t each many turnips, lets go with tomorrow’s size which is a green pepper or sweet potato! Much easier to relate to!
TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN: Wait for it….9 pounds! Oh my! I was worried when I wasn’t gaining much weight at all, but boy did I catch up. 10 pounds in the first 20 weeks is considered normal, so I am hopefully in a good range.
MATERNITY CLOTHES? And then some. Any clothes I wear that aren’t maternity are either stretchy shorts and dresses or are either unbuttoned (like my shorts are right now as I type this), held on with a hair band to bridge the gap from button to button hole, or with the belly band that Susie lent me. I am still on the fence with whether or not the belly band is comfortable or not. It is helpful though.
STRETCH MARKS? None yet. I religiously put my Queen Helene cocoa butter on every day!
MOVEMENT: None yet and it is so hard waiting! My doctor says to expect movement around 20 weeks so I guess it is normal for me to still have a few weeks to go. I can’t wait to feel our little one move around in there!
SLEEP: Hot weather and a growing belly makes for a much more difficult sleep these days. I have been sleeping with my pregnancy pillow more to prevent sleeping on my back which I have awoken in the position of a few times already. The pillow helps but is bigger at the neck than I like my pillows to be.
SYMPTOMS: Besides being tired and bit bigger in the waist these days, not much besides my ever growing need to burp 10 or more times a day!
FOOD CRAVINGS: I do love my Mexican food!
ANYTHING MAKING YOU SICK? Not really which has been nice. I drink lots of coconut water to help ward off any nauseous feelings that I get. Especially helpful for rocky days out on the boat.
WEDDING RING ON OR OFF? On, but with the heat and the weight gain it is getting a bit tight these day (though I sincerely hope that I am not gaining weight in my fingers just yet!!)
BELLY BUTTON IN OR OUT? In but definitely a bit shallower than it usually is! That this is totally going to pop out…just give it time.
WHAT I MISS: I miss a cold beer on a hot summer day. Who wouldn’t miss that?
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO: (1) Going to Sunriver with the family for a week starting tomorrow. Nothing but relaxation, reading, sun, pool time, and maybe a little shopping for the next 5 days. (2) Starting our Bradley Method birthing classes the week after next. I am excited to learn more about natural childbirth and what I can do to help my body prepare for the big event!
MILESTONES? My growing belly and everyone finding it pretty easy to guess I am pregnant! Also finally securing a crib from Ikea was pretty awesome too! We are the proud owners of probably the last Sundvik white Ikea crib on the west coast! Thank you to whomever decided to return it to the store that I don’t have to stress out waiting for it to be restocked!
BEST MOMENT THIS WEEK: The best moment with week was watching our nursery come together even more. With the crib in place, the dresser/changing table painted and filled with freshly washed clothes, and the newly updated Winnie the Pooh lamp getting a new take at life, this nursery is becoming more than just a vision, but a reality!
*It is hard to read in this photo, but Chad is holding up a chalkboard arrow sign that we bought at Tsillan Winery in Chelan that says "16 Weeks!"
*Me showing off my 17 week bump in Lake Chelan last weekend. Look at that baby bump grow!
*Enjoying a cool dip in Lake Washington. Much needed to prevent overheating on these hot summer days. Now if only we had a swimming pool in the backyard...
*Taking the baby and the baby bump to the Lake City Parade where we ran into our favorite Seafair clown, Plop.
