Lucky 13

DATE: July 5, 2014~ 11 years ago today Chad asked me to his girlfriend and 1 year ago he asked me to be his wife.  This is a very special day for us and now for our growing family.  It will always be an anniversary for us Hansens!

HOW FAR ALONG? 13 weeks, 6 days

GENDER: We are holding strong to our choice to not find out, despite that fact that most people are shocked by our choice!

BABY IS THE SIZE OF A: a small peach or tangerine, or the length of a pea pod

TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN: 2-3 pounds so far, which I feel like from my body should be more like 5-6 pounds, but I’m not complaining.

MATERNITY CLOTHES? Yes! I broke down and bought two maternity tank tops (amazing!) from Old Navy and have started to use a hair band to extend the button on my pants since the button and button hold don’t quite meet in the middle anymore!

STRETCH MARKS?  None yet, thankfully! I am currently typing this with a greased up belly of cocoa butter, so I am trying to keep them from coming.  Greased up is not an exaggeration either…this stuff is crazy thick and glistening on my ever growing belly!

MOVEMENT:  It is still a little too early to feel the baby yet, especially since this is my first pregnancy.  I can’t wait to fill the baby move though.  That will make this even more real than it already is.

SLEEP:  I wake up most days 1-3 times in the middle of the night depending on the day.  Lots of trips to the bathroom!  My pregnancy pillow, nicknamed Roger, helps me sleep on my side and not my back, but it takes up A LOT of space!  We had two dogs in the bed this past week and you can only imagine how happy Chad was to have his wife, her gigantic pillow, and two large pups in our queen size bed each night.  Not a lot of room!

SYMPTOMS: Luckily…..not really! Which has been really nice.  I guess it is true what people say about the 2ndtrimester being a honeymoon period of pregnancy.  My nausea has subsided and only shows up randomly maybe once a week.  My fatigue isn’t as intense as it was around weeks 8-10, and my breast pain has also subsided (though they get very achy when it is cold outside).  Not too bad at all….I can deal with those symptoms just fine! As long as I eat on a regular basis I feel great.  It is when I don’t eat for awhile and get really hungry that I start to feel a bit under the weather.

FOOD CRAVINGS:  Not really anything specific, but Mexican food always sounds good!  It is also easy to find dishes that I can have at Mexican restaurants which is nice and makes eating a lot less stressful.  I still love pickles and cheese, lots and lots of cheese.

ANYTHING MAKING YOU SICK?  As has been true this whole pregnancy, nothing really makes me wants to be physically sick, but when something does not sound good, it REALLY doesn’t sound good, whatever it may be.

WEDDING RING ON OR OFF?  On, of course!  I hope I have a long time before I get that bloated…

BELLY BUTTON IN OR OUT? In! Though I do not have any major feelings of apprehension or concern if it does pop out at the end.  Just going to roll with whatever comes at that point!

WHAT I MISS:  I miss sushi restaurants (and not just going there for a California roll), brie and goat cheese without feeling like I have a ask a waitress if the cheese is made with pasteurized milk (they usually have no idea anyway), and more than anything I miss being able to do whatever during summer to be productive.  Such as painting the nursery…or the other ten painting projects I would like to get done, but can’t.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO:Since the nursery got painted this past week, I can’t wait to start putting it all together! It has been a vision in my head before this baby was even conceived and I can’t wait to actually see that vision become a reality!

MILESTONES? Depending on which book you read, the second trimester either started 6 days ago or starts tomorrow, so I would say that is quite a milestone!  That and buying maternity clothes for my little baby bump!  I am so excited to have a baby bump…a real one, not just a food one!  After a few big meals though my baby bump isn’t so little anymore.  It is just nice to know that our little peach is growing big and strong in there.

BEST MOMENT THIS WEEK: Our 4thof July BBQ was a great success yesterday!  We had such great family and friends over to celebrate and just hang out.  We had four dogs running around as well as an adorable 2 year old.  It was just so nice to sit around and enjoy each other’s company. Chad and I ended the night with the first fire in our new chiminea listening to the fireworks in the neighborhood. It was a wonderful ending to a great day.

*Rocking my new maternity tank top for the Fourth of July. Happy birthday, America!
