11 Week Update

DATE: June 18, 2014

HOW FAR ALONG? 11 weeks

GENDER: At the start of my pregnancy I was thinking boy….starting to think it is a girl now!

BABY IS THE SIZE OF A: A fig or a lime (finally a fruit I can actually picture)!

TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN: 3 pounds

MATERNITY CLOTHES? Just starting to see a teeny tiny bump show!  It’s too bad I will need most of the maternity clothes during the winter as I think a lot of my summer clothes would be perfect for a big belly.

STRETCH MARKS?  I have been researching the best lotions to prevent stretch marks.  Coconut butter and bio oil it is!

MOVEMENT:  Still too early, but we could see our little one moving around on the ultrasound at our appointment today.  That baby has some good kickers (that may not be a good sign for the future!).

SLEEP: I am on a weird schedule that has me waking up once between 2-4am and again between 5-7am.  The new addition to this odd schedule has been that it takes me 15-30minutes to fall asleep again after the first wake up. Not my favorite way to spend timeat 3am, but at least I don’t have to go to work!

SYMPTOMS:  My nausea is finally starting to let up! Yay! I am still exhausted, but it is so nice to not feel a general “hungover” feeling all the time now.

FOOD CRAVINGS:  Cheese, cheese, and more cheese (and whipped cream too) which is hard because my favorite cheeses are on the do not eat list!  I will miss you goat and bleu cheese…  To give you an idea about my food desires these days, Chad wanted to bring me a treat on the last day of school last Thursday.  Whereas he might have brought me a nice beer or bottle of my favorite wine before, this time it was Swiss cheese squares and two gallons of raspberry and blueberry lemonade.  It was so sweet!

ANYTHING MAKING YOU SICK?Hmmm……(luckily) not really right now.  Phew!

WEDDING RING ON OR OFF? On!

BELLY BUTTON IN OR OUT? In!

WHAT I MISS: I miss feeling like I can do pretty much whatever I want now that I am on summer break.  For example, I would never have thought twice about moving the futon out of our second bedroom and taking it over to my brother’s house before, but now I just need to patiently wait for him to come and get it.  And don’t even get Chad started about how helpful I was when we had to move mattresses!

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO:Our next appointment with our new doctor in about 3 weeks.  I also can’t wait for the day when we can feel our little one move.

MILESTONES? In 4 days we will enjoy the end of the first trimester! We made it!  Now we can start spreading the good news!

BEST MOMENT THIS WEEK: The best moments this week were (1) making it back to the gym and pushing myself only as hard as I want to (which is not very hard) while watching a 7 month pregnant woman back squat 100 pounds and (2) getting to see the baby on the belly ultrasound with Chad today.  Nothing will ever beat sitting next to him watching our baby move around on the screen!

*Someone has been watching a little too much World Cup from the womb! Look at the kickers on this little one! Future soccer star!
