Mother's (and Mothers-to-be) Day!

DATE: May 12, 2014

HOW FAR ALONG? 5 weeks

GENDER: It’s a surprise!  I’m not sure that I will be able to wait it out!

BABY IS THE SIZE OF A: Sesame seed or small orange seed….still so small.  And apparently our fetus currently is rocking a tail.

TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN: 0 pounds

MATERNITY CLOTHES? No, but I get so bloated that I wear all my flowy clothes these days.

STRETCH MARKS? No and I rub lotion on my stomach already!

MOVEMENT:  Can’t feel my sesame seed just yet.

SLEEP:   I am so exhausted these days that it isn’t uncommon for me to be in bed and asleep by 9pm.  I feel so tired that I could pretty much fall asleep any hour after 6pm…I push myself to stay awake until 8 and sometimes that feels like a stretch!

SYMPTOMS: My biggest symptoms are fatigue (note the granny bed time above!), bloating after most every meal and especially at night (I look like I am 5 months pregnant after dinner!), and some tata tenderness. So far I haven’t had any morning (or afternoon or evening for that matter) sickness, so we will see how long that lasts for.

FOOD CRAVINGS:  None really, but I am trying really hard to each healthy veggies and fruits often.

ANYTHING MAKING YOU SICK? So far, so good!

WEDDING RING ON OR OFF? On!  It makes me sad to think that I will get so big that my ring might not fit soon!

BELLY BUTTON IN OR OUT?In….please stay there!

WHAT I MISS: I miss feeling less worried.  I worry about the food I eat, I worry I am not getting enough sleep, I worry that my sinus infection antibiotics aren’t safe even though my doctor assured me they are.  I worry a lot more, but I am also trying really hard to be relaxed about everything. And for me, I’m doing pretty good!

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO: The first real doctor appointment!  I went to the doctor’s office for them to confirm that I am indeed preggers (luckily that test came back positive!), but I don’t get to have a real appointment for a few more weeks! It is so hard to wait!

MILESTONES? This week we surprised our mothers on Mother’s Day with cards that read “Happy Mother’s Day, Grandma!”  They were both so surprised!  It was wonderful and it feels so much more real now that they both know!

BEST MOMENT THIS WEEK: Watching Chad’s mom burst into tears and my mom erupt in loud shouts (and some swearing which she claims after watching the video she didn’t even know she was saying….too funny!)

*Note that my gigantic for 4 weeks belly is actually just a great example of how bloated I get these days!!

*My mom when we told her. Do you think she might be a tiny bit excited?

*Chad's mom's reaction made me so happy. For someone who came prepared with a gift in case we had an announcement, she was pretty shocked!

*The card we gave to our moms.
